About us
We are a group of young Africans that decided to carry the Alpbachtal spirit.
Alpbach Africa Network was founded by a group of young Africans who attended the European Forum Alpbach (EFA) and desired to keep the ‘spirit of Alpbach’ alive through an alumni network that reflects on the needs and aspirations of the African continent. This network is primarily driven by the way EFA converges thinkers, scholars and major stakeholders to inspire, challenge and share ideas about contemporary challenges in Europe and the world.
Having recognized the gaps in African representation, perceptions and participation within EFA, we intend to contribute to the organization and expression of the seminars and symposia in a critical, nuanced and progressive manner. A couple of meetings held in Alpbach between August 25 – 29, 2019 helped establish the foundational blocks for the creation of the Alpbach Africa Network which will serve as the bedrock for a future Club Alpbach Africa.
With the support of the EFAF and other well-meaning partners, we believe we can start a pan-African movement that would inspire and drive the social and economic prosperity of the continent and to promote Africa-Europe integration. This document gives a brief overview of our overall vision, goals, current structure and a timeline for proposed activities.
Come and join us in our inter-disciplinary discussions and be part of the ongoing solutions.
